Professional Experience

Having recently switched to lecturing I will count this as a highlight. Now working towards bringing out a publication on hand held dynamometry for ankle assessment and rehab. I regularly appear as a guest speaker for the digital leadership program courses ran by national education Scotland. My last role at NHS lothian was a highlight as I worked exclusively in MsK podiatry. In that role I was working on a daily basis with orthotists, orthopaedics foot and ankle, physiotherapt and many more. It was a very complex role but a rewarding challenge. As a result I have advanced manufacturing skills for footwear and orthosis. I have worked with many athletes focusing on running rehab and gait retraining. Being an athlete it’s easier to put yourself in their position which can be lost on clinicians who don’t actively take past in competition. Working through my clinical biomechanics has been great. Learning an area which I have a huge passion for and developing that is hugely helpful. My last highlight has been in my later clinical practice days were I started to focus on paediatric MSK, it’s an underrepresented area and one that I am now focused on in academia.

Specialisations and Areas of Expertise

Running analysis and rehabilitation. Gait analysis specifically related to midfoot biomechanics. Paediatric MSK and management. Clinical biomechanics.

Personal Interests/Hobbies

I actively race bikes although not as much as I have previously. This takes me up and down the UK for specific target races. I have a huge passion for race athletics having been an athlete from the age of 8 to 21. Had it not been for injury I would have competed longer however switched to cycling. I love animals and have a dog, recently had a cat but they are missing. And my biggest interest is my amazing twins and twin mummy. The twins are now coming up for 4 and I get to see them connect with new things all the time. Now they are finding a love for the Olympic a just like I did. I also love travel. I will always try and go somewhere new and I have 1 continent left to travel to.
